The Ultimate Healthy Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups almond milk
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 date
  • 1 cm piece of fresh ginger

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients in a blender starting with the almond milk.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Transfer mixture to a saucepan and warm through on a medium heat until hot. This recipe doesn't need to boil and is best just warmed to desired temperature.

Tips

I use a standard cup measure. If you don’t have one you can use a mug and substitute the amount for ¾ of a standard size mug.

Find your Ingredients

Cacao powder – found in the health food aisle of most supermarkets.
Almond milk – I usually buy the Nutty Bruce brand found at Woolworths in the fridge but there are also lots of others to choose from in the long-life milk aisle.
Dates – found in the fresh fruit and vegetable aisle.
Ginger – found in the fresh fruit and vegetable aisle.
